PREFACE
The purpose has been to make this as complete a family record as the circumstances would permit. There has been no striving after literary merit in anything that is contained in the record; and besides it is intended more for information than entertainment. It is primarily intended for the use and benefit of the Gilbert Family and if the writer shall succeed in pleasing them, she will be content.
